Gold Bug Mine, Placerville, CA

Despite an emergency room visit by Lyla on thanks giving eve, we decided to brave our way into the foothills to visit the "caves." Apparently Sheena & I had differing ideas about which "caves" we were going to, but we didn't realize this until Dad pulled into the parking lot for the 'Gold Bug Mines'. For our next cave trip we plan on visiting the Black Chasm Cavern

Lyla was fussy the whole way, but really not too bad since her cry is more like a whine than a yell. Plus she like being in the front pack so Dad could pat her chest most of the trip. Parker & Mabel had an awesome time. The ran through the whole trail above the hill side, and had plenty of energy to make it through the 1/3 mile mining tunnel.

Then after we loaded into the car after about 1.5 hrs we passed the Stamp Mill, and the kids asked to get out and go there. Parker was really interested in taking notes, and made some pretty good drawings of the rock crushing process.
