Echocardiogram

Monday we went in for a scheduled echocardiogram for Parker. This is where a echo technologist uses ultrasound to take pictures and recordings of the heart (beating, chambers, valves and the major blood vessels that exit from the left and right ventricle). These pictures will then be reviewed by his cardiologist, Dr. Van Gundy and we will meet with him at the end of this month to find out how everything looks. Before going into the appointment, I didn't think much of it because going to see the pediatrician and cardiologist has been routine for us. But now that we have to wait to hear how everything looks has gotten me real anxious!
Parker was really good during the 20 or so minutes he had to lay still while the technician checked out his heart. It was so amazing seeing his little heart beating on the ultrasound. Every once in awhile he would look up at the screen and just watch his heart too. He also tried to help the technician move the transducer (wand like thing) across his chest. She said she hadn't had a baby that good in a long time. We are so blessed and pray for good news from Dr. Van Gundy.

I just found your blog on the Heart of Hope blog. Parker is a cute little guy!
We have a little boy who also has a heart defect & we are also LDS. Anyway, it is good to see that he's doing well & hope he continues to do so!

Hi, I saw your blog on the support group. I am new to the group. We have a 13 mos old son with a CHD. I am trying to get more connected with other heart families.
Parker looks great....he's in my prayers for a clear echo!
