Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

The weather was beautiful, and it was time to get out of town and avoid the Sacramento allergy season. We bought season passes to Six flags for 2012 when we went to holiday in the park. At that point Mabel was a little too young to enjoy all the rides, but at 20 months she's now just the right age to enjoy a lot of the kiddie rides. And on top of this, it was a great chance to break out the DVD player in our new car! We watched "The Muppets" on the way there, and "The Muppets" on the way back home.

After being too shy to meet Foghorn Leghorn at the entrygate, we went over the swings and hopped on right away. After that, they didn't seem to hesitate on any of the rides afterwards like the train, bertie bus and harold helicopters. It was so cute to have two kids that could sit together on the rides like in the helicopter photo below. Parker loved taking his sister for a ride, and she had total confidence in him and let him show her how it's done.

The exciting part about Six Flags Vallejo is that it's not just rides, but they have all kinds of animal exibits and shows for the kids too - so it's not just waiting in lines all day. Both kids went crazy in the butterfly exhibit. There were huge butterflies everywhere and the both got a little freaked out after some time running around inside the greenhouse. Mabel's favorite was the coy fish swimming around - she probably liked them the most because she could show off her vocab saying "ish", "ish". Parker was loving the prospect of having one land on him, and was fascinated by a little girl that got on on here finger.

After the butterflies, we went over the the best ride in the park, the "Frog Hoppers" which Parker & Mabel both got to ride with Mommy. While we were in Jungle Land there was also a little hut where the kids got a chance to touch a real alligator. Mabel just loved petting him and feeling his skin, and Parker was more fascinated with the spray bottle they used to spray down his urine.

Knowing that it would be a hot day, we brought the kid's swimsuits and let them run around in the fountain area to cool off. Mabel really got warmed up to it, but Parker was over it right away and wanted to climb all over the play area. We seriously could have been there all day on that thing. Mabel got into it too, and kept saying "tunnel" "tunnel" to go down the tunnel slide.

After a show with Shouka the killer whale we headed home. It was a quick trip, but fortunately we had our season passes to talk us into going - it really is a great time with the family and it's awesome to see our kids have such a great time. Of course Mom & Dad were all worn out, but it was a great start to our Mother's Day weekend.
