Although Lyla is not progressing very well, we feel very blessed for the health that she is in. Many have asked if she's getting better, but really she doesn't have anything to get better from - she just needs to learn to eat so she can come home. This has been her big challenge, and with her heart condition it just doesn't seem she has the stamina to do it. We have elected to surgically implant a "g-tube" which will help facilitate her homecoming, and could also help her progress after her heart surgery (expected to occur in 3-6 months). We're looking forward to this, but a little scared too because of the surgery (which is very routine) and also the prospect of bringing her home without seeing her vital signs on the computer screen. Doctors say to expect her discharge from the hospital 1-2 weeks after this surgery.
Parker & Mabel love going to visit their little sister at the "hospitable". It's really cute to hear Mabel do a little squeaky baby voice when talking to Lyla too. To add to the craziness, Mabel had an ear infection last weekend, and is now addicted to Amoxicillian and asks for her pink medicine all day long.
