The Zoo and Other Fun Stuff

Last Saturday we went to the zoo with other "heart families". We've meet some really great people through a local support group called Hearts of Hope. We were introduced to their blog upon leaving the NICU. They have monthly meetings and organize activities that families can attend. It has really been a humbling experience reading about and meeting these families that also have children that were born with heart defects. To say the least, Parker's condition was hardly anything compared to the many other heart defects that exist. I can't imagine going through what some of these other families have gone through (and still are going through as their babies are now small children receiving surgery and new hearts). They are an inspiration to us. And although CHD (congenital heart defect) awareness week was a month ago, I hope in some small way Parker has sparked an awareness within my family and friends. Anyway, although Parker is way too young to remember or fully understand that he saw some great looking animals at the zoo, we still had a fun time as a family.

On to other fun stuff...
Trevor started his new job and is loving it! We feel so blessed and are grateful for the time we had to spend together as a family for 2 whole months!!! Parker is going to miss his daddy during the day. And Mommy is going to miss being able to sleep that extra hour and a half in the morning.

We celebrated our 3 year anniversary on Wednesday. Crazy how time goes by so quickly. But it's been an amazing 3 years and this past year we have grown so much together.
In 3 years:
Sheena graduated from CSUS and also received her teaching credential.
We've lived in 3 different places.
Went to Costa Rica, Hawaii, and Utah.
Got pregnant and had our first child.
Survived the trauma of having a child born with a heart defect.
Purchased our first home! (in which Trevor learned how to be quite handy)
Went on one vacation as a family to Palm Desert.
Trevor got a new job.
