We're so excited to add our newest family member Lyla Johnson!! We are very anxious to go through life's journey with her!! Like her older brother Parker, she has a congenital heart defect, but hers is related to a diagnosis of Trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome). We have been through a whirlwind of emotions related to this news, but above all, we feel great joy in knowing she will be a member of our family and we can't wait to love her and get to know her better. As a family, we will all share the trials she has in this life and hope to use those experiences as a positive influence to each other and those around us.

Her heart condition is cause for concern, but the procedure to correct her Atrial Ventricular Septal Defect (AVSD - AV Canal) is somewhat routine at UC Davis Children's Hospital, given it's close ties to Down Syndrome. Also, we're looking forward to bringing her home from the hospital shortly after birth, but will expect her cardiologist to bring her in for surgery sometime within her first year of life. We'll have the blessing of knowing both her cardiologist and pediatric surgeon through Parker's relationship with them.

The last comment deleted was ours...computer issues. Anyway, congrats on another sweet girl coming to the family! Good to know that with the complications, she'll be going to a family who will love and care for her so well.
